Every year, thousands of young people and their families face the devastating diagnosis of osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma—two of the most aggressive bone cancers affecting children, adolescents, and young adults. These cancers, though rare, leave lasting impacts on patients and their families. But here’s a shocking fact: the treatment guidelines for these diseases haven’t significantly changed in over 30 years. The protocols we use today are largely the same as those outlined in the NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) guidelines decades ago.

While some advances have been made in cancer treatment overall, the fight against these bone sarcomas has seen limited progress. These cancers often resist standard chemotherapy and radiation, leaving patients with few options beyond grueling surgeries, often with life-altering outcomes. For far too long, these young patients have been relying on outdated therapies with devastating side effects and insufficient cures.

We need better solutions.

Research is drastically underfunded, and there’s an urgent need for new therapies—therapies that target cancer more effectively, improve survival rates, and offer hope for a better quality of life.
